Family business used to own SoccerNationOnline.com but the company name is Soccer Nation. The domain was long and hard for customers to remember it therefore the returning visits were not as good. So per my recommendation we dropped a good money to buy SoccerNation.com.
Now type Soccer Nation in google and website comes up number one where before was on the first page but not the first one or two. Also google seems to like smaller domains better. Traffic has increased on many keywords even the generic ones like Soccer.
So small URLs that contain your business name and nothing more are the best thing you can have for your business. It is good for customers to remember because it is short, it is great for branding, and it is excellent for SEO.
